about

"Behold, the days are coming..." is repeated frequently throughout the book of Jeremiah, often in regards to a time when Israel will be reconciled to the Lord...the phrase struck me as perfect for a man seeking forgiveness from the woman he wronged.

lyrics

THE DAYS ARE COMING

I was lost in the wilderness
Searching for what, I do not know
Something to fill me up, I guess
The seeds of fortune that I could sow

I prayed to false golden idols, baby
When you're the one I should have bowed before
I worshiped myself, yeah, but lately
You're the only one I adore

I was a fool, it's true
Now I'm a fool for you
Don't let me fade away
Forgive me, I pray

CHORUS:
The days are coming
I'm gonna fall right into you
The days are coming
I'm gonna be somebody new
The days are coming
When all our love we will restore
And you'll remember my sins no more

I lived in the valley, yeah, my lady
Between the mountains called Me and Mine
I stayed in the shadows, dark and shady
Hiding from the light you tried to shine

I turned my back on our sacred promise
My own happiness I did seek
But the sun has finally pierced my blindness
Will you please turn the other cheek?

I was a fool, it's true
Now I'm a fool for you
This promise I make today
I'll no longer stray

CHORUS

I was a fool, it's true
Now I'm a fool for you
Listen to me when I say
It's the forty-first day

CHORUS
